Poop face

Lately while feeding Nolan, he will feel the urge to relieve himself, #2.

He starts grunting and bearing down. He then gets the look of concentration and agony at the same time. Funniest thing ever.

Long Haul Trucker mods

I added a dynamo light to the LHT.  While it is not a dynamo hub, it is a sidewall dynamo.  This means it uses a small bottle dynamo, or generator, that runs off the sidewall of the tire.  The drag is minimal and not even noticable to me.  The dynamo generates 3 Watts of power.

It powers a 3W Halogen light.  While not as bright as my 100 Lumens LED light, it still gets me noticed by traffic and lets me see the road.

Also a close up shot of the new stem setup.  This mod has definately made the LHT as comforatable as my mountain bikes.

Ride at Wilder ranch

Lisa took the kids to a party and I got a “get out of the house free pass”

Off to Wilder to go for a much needed ride. Took the Nomad. I haven’t ridden this bike in well over 3 to 5 months.

It was good to get back on the full suspension bike again.  I even got to see a red tail hawk soar over my head while out riding.  Majestic.

And more climbing

Out in the cold

Took Tulia to school by bike like any other day. Today it was a balmy 38 degrees out. Lisa left some sodas in the car last night. When I put them in the refer, they were colder than the ones in there already.

After dropping Tulia at school, I picked up my dry cleaning. The lady looked at me then my bike and said, “how are you gonna get this stuff home?”

I said I would put it in the bike bag and ride home. She then went on about how I must exercise a lot. Funny how that stigma about bicycle commuting is there.

Anyway, the dog some exercise and I got my clothes.

Murdock park

Took the kids to murdock park. This is another childhood stomping ground for me. First place I discovered poison oak was in the creek. Took the dummy and Tulia rode her hand me down 18″ bike.

Los Gatos Creek Trail Ride

I shortened the stem on the Trucker and it felt so comfortable. I no longer feel stretched out. It now feels as comfortable as my mountain bikes.   So I took it for a ride up to Lexington and back. I loved riding on the gravel trail.  The rigid steel bike is surprisingly giving in the rough…  Can you believe it’s December and we have weather like this?  Bright side of global warming I guess.

Christmas tree by big dummy

This year our neighborhood association voted to do an outside holiday tree on everyone’s lawn. I went and picked ours up by bike.

For the kids

Today for my light duty I am wrapping barrels that we will distribute to collect toys for the kids that are less fortunate than us.

A naked dummy

I took my freeloader bags off today to paint the silver tubes a stealthy and utilitarian black. So here is a shot the Big Dummy naked. Note the big black rubber piece is to keep the caliper from rubbing through the bag.

Rack Build Sequence

So I am itching to build my own porteur rack.  Check out this cool Flickr sequence of a rack build.
